My name’s Tida (like pita)! I’m a Malibu wedding & elopement photographer and I am so freakin’ excited that you’re HERE, you’re ENGAGED, and you’re looking to get some photos to celebrate it! To tell you a lil about myself - I’m not just another photographer – I’m your hype girl, your ally, your eyes and your ears on your wedding day. I’ll be there freaking out shouting “OMG HOT FIRE ALERT” hyping you up during portraits because holy-shit you look amazing AF! I’ll be dancing circles around your guests while I shove my camera in their faces, fixing your hair when the wind gets too cray, and confidently (and loudly) directing your family portrait time. 5 TIPS FOR PLANNING A MALIBU ENGAGEMENT SESSION
There are so many things to keep in mind when planning a Malibu Engagement Session! Here are 5 things you need to know:
Most locations require a still photography permit. I have experience in most Malibu locations and can help with you with planning and permit assistance! Contact me to plan your Malibu engagement session.
Avoid crowds. Every location in Malibu is going to be a popular location! I highly recommend planning your session on a weekday. Pro tip - do your session on a weekday and at sunset for the emptiest experience! Plus, you’ll take advantage of the beautiful soft sunrise lighting.
Keep the weather in mind. Although this is Southern California, keep in mind that the winter months tend to bring in cold, windy, and sometimes even rainy weather. Doing your session in the Summer is going to give you the best chance at a warm sunny day! Consider a Spring Malibu engagement session for wildflowers!
Bring props. Props can make a huge difference in the vibe of your photos! Even something as simple as a blanket, pillows, and a small picnic can instantly cozy up your photos even more. Or bring something that is meaningful and personal to your relationship to make your session that much more special.
Bring multiple outfits! Play it up with a casual look, something a little dressier, or even go full beach vibes and wear your bathing suits! Having multiple looks allows you to really make the most of your session and the location. SESSION LOCATIONS
Point Dume
Featuring a stunning rocky cliff jutting out into the Pacific Ocean, there is nothing more “Southern California” than the picturesque vista of Point Dume, Malibu. A gradual ascending trail leads up to an ancient coastal bluff and sand dune. Point Dume is my top location for Malibu Engagement Sessions because of it’s beauty and also because it is right next to Zuma Beach, giving the perfect opportunity to get 2 locations in one!
Zuma Beach
Directly beneath Point Dume is Zuma Beach. This makes for the perfect location to get two settings in one! The cliffs in the background and rocks on the beach make for a unique beach engagement session.
El Matador Beach
This famous beach is known for the 3 small cliff foot beaches it features! El Matador Beach is the perfect location for those beautiful rocky Malibu Beach photos. An extremely popular beach, I highly recommend doing your engagement session here on a weekday at sunrise to avoid the crowds.
Malibu Creek State Park
About 15 minutes from Malibu Beach is Malibu Creek State Park within the Santa Monica Mountains. This beautiful location is the perfect setting if you’re looking to be surrounded by nature, beneath trees, and with the mountains in the background. With lots of great hiking trails, this location is super accessible for anyone.
Malibu Canyon
Malibu Canyon is full of so many hiking trails, each one with its own unique views. Malibu Canyon is the perfect location for your engagement session if you and your partner love hiking and the beautiful sunset views that come with it!
